JoyRiders!

Sculpture piece I did for the #monsterriderchallenge over on the The Shiflett Brothers forum.

Concept: Two friends play in the woods, befriending a creature of legend & folklore that has ravaged the local people for over 100 years.

Like more and more of my personal work, I didn’t use symmetry on this one (bar the first 1% of the project), which was freeing!
I wanted to do a creature that is monstrous, potentially menacing but has humanesque/dinosaur characteristics and is part-time quadruped.

The piece as ever could use a tonne of refinement. I was more interested in keeping the sculpture overall very alive and dynamic in the time. Despite being digital, I wanted to give it a sculptural feel. Composition and photography opportunities were also on my mind regards design.
I made something I’d like to have on my character shelf basically. My end result design might be too conservative for some, but I had a ‘ride’ doing it!!
